College Athlete With Radiating Pain Down Leg

College athlete with radiating pain stops by Legacy Clinic in The Villages for a breakthrough treatment of his herniated disc. Devon Burkes, #7 University of Kentucky Catcher presents with radiating pain down his left leg and worse when bending from his waist. After further MRI, it is determined that Devon has a herniated disc between L5 and S1. Devon recently stopped by for a breakthrough herniated disc treatment by Dr. Aaron Perry. Dr. Perry administered prolozone into the low back-injured site to help heal the injured lumbar spine. Prolozone injections use a combination of nutrients, homeopathic, and ozone (miracle gas). The gas oxidizes the injected site, increases red blood cell production, and improves the intake of oxygen at the cellular level.

Results: Immediate relief! Bending from the waist with no pain traveling down the left leg

Dr. Aaron Perry is a doctor of oriental medicine and practices acupuncture at Legacy Clinic in The Villages. He is a certified acup-point injection and ozone practitioner. Dr. Perry offers complimentary consultations to learn more about treatment options, the formula used, and dosages.

Sacroiliac Joint Pain

The SI or sacroiliac joints connect your hip bones to your lower spine. These joints are made to swivel back and forth to help us walk and twist at the hips. Sometimes, we can injur these joints and they will lock themselves into place. If this has ever happened to you, it was probably evident right away.
Because our muscles protect our bones, they will often guard the joints by shortening and tightening up. This can make things like walking very hard to do and can lead to severe pain.
We are putting some exercises here to help prevent any injuries and relieve the pain for those of you that have it.

Start by doing 10 repetitions of each once a day, and slowly build your way up to three times a day. This will help avoid further aggravating the area.

Increase Your Bone Health!!

Every day we have patients saying that they want to increase their bone strength or that they were previously diagnosed with osteoporosis. Here are some basic steps to increase your bone strength and density…..

Resistance Training:

Resistance training is the best type of exercise to increase your bone health. Easy ways to do resistance training include water aerobics, lifting light weights and practicing yoga.

Research shows that resistance training not only increases your bone health but also helps to increase your brain activity and your memory.

Here in The Villages, we are surrounded with pools, gyms and yoga classes. Please look at the Thursday recreation center news insert to determine a location or class near you.

Supplements:

Proper nutrition is essential for maintaining your bone strength and density. Here are our top 3 supplements for stronger bones….

  1. Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar (1 Tbsp with water twice a day)
  2. Vitamin D3 (5,000 IU once a day)
  3. Calcium Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite (1000 mg calcium once a day)

It is almost Turkey Day and I wanted to share this heathy recipe with you. When purchasing a turkey the best turkey would be organic and hormone free.
Herb Roasted Turkey Recipe ingredient
1 11 lbs. whole pastured free range turkey
1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 large onion – quartered
1 head garlic – cut into 2 pieces
1 medium size lemon- quartered
Coconut oil, melted (as needed)

Preheat oven to 325 F degrees. In a small bowl mix the oregano, rosemary, thyme, black pepper and salt. Remove the gizzards and neck from the completely thawed turkey. Place the cut garlic, onion, and lemon inside the turkey. Using your finger gently loosen the skin of the turkey and rub the spice mixture underneath the skin of the turkey breast and thigh. Do it very gently to avoid breaking the skin. Put the turkey on the middle oven rack. Place a pan underneath turkey on the rack below to catch the drippings. Roast for 3 hours. The turkey is done when an instant read thermometer reads registers 165 degree when it is inserted to the thickest part of the thigh. Melt coconut oil and brush all over the turkey and let rest for at least 10 minutes before carving. Enjoy. Happy Turkey Day!!!
