| What Is Spinal Decompression Spinal decompression is a treatment that relieves pressure on the discs in between your vertebrae. Over time, pressure on these discs can cause bulging and even herniations. This pressure can also cause damage to the spine itself as well as the spinal cord. This damage can lead to excruciating pain caused by pinching on the nerves. Spinal decompression works by stretching and releasing the vertebrae in you lumbar or cervical spine in a way that your body will not fight against. Over time, your discs can reform to their natural shape and size, protecting you as they were meant to. Lumbar decompression A therapist will secure a belt around your hips which attaches to a machine. This machine will then pull the belt (and your lower spine) to a set amount of pressure. The machine will hold at that pressure for 45 seconds after which, it will release to half the pressure allowing your muscles to relax. The amount of pressure will be gradually increased to achieve the maximum results for each individual.Cervical Decompression Cervical decompression works in much the same way as lumbar decompression. A therapist will place pads on either side of your neck. This will slowly pull your neck to a set amount of pressure and hold for 30 seconds then release to half the pressure for 15 seconds. The goal of either decompression is to allow the discs to heal and retain the natural curvature that supports your body. |

Acupuncture For Headaches
Why Should You Try Acupuncture?
Many of us suffer from routine headaches or very painful acute headaches. If you're someone who has been suffering in silence, it's time to speak up!
ACUPUNCTURE CAN HELP MANAGE AND REDUCE HEADACHES
A 2016 review published by the American Headache Society found that acupuncture can be part of a treatment plan for people suffering from migraines, tension type headaches, and other types of chronic headaches.
Another 2016 Cochrane review showed that “adding acupuncture to routine care or treatment of acute headaches reduces the frequency of headaches in the short term (three months).”
Many people simply take OTC meds such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen to combat their headaches. These may be effective in the short term, but they can lead to much worse effects in long term usage. Don't continue to "deal with" the painful aches, try acupuncture for yourself and get the relief you've been needing.

Chiropractic's Birthday!
Legacy Clinic of Chiropractic

September
18th, 1895: The Greatest Day in American Heath Care, EVER!
September
18th is Chiropractic’s birthday.
The only healthcare model exclusively developed in the United States of America ,
has always presented a change from the status quo. In direct competition with drug companies and
the Medical Model, it came into this world as an unwanted model of healthcare
from the AMA, medical doctors and drug companies.
In
fact, the AMA, in a Supreme Court decision in 1989, admitted to using negative
propaganda, and slander about the effectiveness, safety and training of
chiropractors. The AMA also admitted to
have a Committee within the organization whose sole purpose was to influence
the decision of medical doctors to not to refer to chiropractors and to carry
out this slander. After reviewing all
the facts, clinical trials, safety records, and training the U.S. Supreme Court
ruled in favor of Chiropractic and mandated the Medical doctors and the AMA
start referring to Chiropractors, and to have an open door policy. After 10 years of practice, I’m still waiting
for that door.
So,
with all this negative publicity, and with the most powerful industry against
chiropractic, how did it survive now to be the most frequented health care
profession in our country?
Chiropractic’s
incredibly safe record (chiropractic malpractice is about the cost of car
insurance compared to six figure malpractice for the same coverage for medical
doctors) and undeniable results has contributed to the amazing growth people
being adjusted since 1895.
Recently,
the medical journal: JMPT published a study that analyzed data from health
comparisons between those who utilize a wellness oriented chiropractor as their
Primary Care Physician and those who’s PCP practice a conventional Medical
Model. Here are the findings:
Chiropractic/wellness
patients had 60.2% fewer hospital admissions, 59% less days hospitalized, 62%
less outpatient surgeries, and 85% less pharmaceutical costs (AMAZING!).
The
same journal published the findings of 311 chiropractic patients, ages 65 and
older, who had received “maintenance chiropractic care” for five or
longer. What they found when they
compared with citizens their own age:
-
Chiropractic
patients spent only 31% of the national average for health care
-
They
had 50% less medical provider visits
-
Their
health habits were radically better than overall population
-
They
had far less cigarette consumption
-
98.5%
believed that care to be considerably and extremely valuable
Another
recent study in the medical journal: Spine, 2007:32 states: Spinal problems
reduce quality of life, decrease mobility, lower longevity (lifespan) and
increase the risk of coronary artery disease.
1224 years after its birth, the unwanted model of health care is radically improving
lives, transforming the way people live, saving lives, and adding years to life.

Decompression Or Bust!
Decompression is a therapy used to open the spaces between the vertebrae and relief pressure on the discs. Our spines should be curved. They are curved to support our weight against that nasty thing called gravity. Through poor posture or constantly looking down at our phones or books, we start to lose that curvature. Losing that curvature can lead to several things including; arthritis, stenosis, hernias and pain among other things. Pain is often times the last symptom that something is wrong.
Decompression works to restore your spine to its natural position and take pressure off the discs allowing them to heal. Over time, your body can be trained to hold the spine with this correction. Most patients believe that this process will hurt, but in fact most agree it feels quite the opposite. The treatment generally involves a belt that pulls downward from your hips or a brace that pulls upward from your neck. This pulling is noticeable but should not cause any extra discomfort. For a lot of patients, the vertebrae can collapse down on the discs in between them. This cause those discs to bulge out and can pinch on the nerves. This can affect the entire body as the spinal nerve branches out to the whole body. Taking the pressure off the discs through decmpression can relieve the discomfort and pain caused by the pinched nerve.
Decompression, along with manual adjustments, can mean a lot less pain and lot more freedom to enjoy the things you like to do. If you think you might benefit from our help, call or email us today.
